John Veitch

As a child growing up in Scotland, through the 1960s and 70s, being outdoors was an everyday occurrence. My playground had a salmon river running right through the middle of it. With my father being an avid salmon angler, it was inevitable I would become hooked on fishing. After catching my first salmon aged just 7ys old, I’ve been fishing ever since. It’s embedded in my DNA.

As school life moved to work life, my focus changed for a time, but after spending many years living and working in France, I returned to Scotland in 2008 and found myself managing the Salmon Fishing Operations on the beautiful River Lochy -Scotlands Queen of Salmon Rivers. What a fantastic experience that was…..big fish and all! Roll on a further ten years to 2020- I am now freelance – guiding, fishing and fly-tying, amongst some other things.

Since 1999 I have been visiting Norway and it’s wonderful rivers- Gaula, Laerdal, Stryn, Orkla, Olden to name a few of my favourites. It’s almost become a second home during summertime. Even after 20+ years I still get excited about chasing big salmon in Norway.

StorlaksFishing is my venture into connecting anglers with the same shared passion as me – and turning dreams into reality.
